Exeter Gastroenterology Collection
The Exeter Gastroenterology Collection forms part of the Royal Devon & Exeter Tissue Bank (RDETB).
The RDETB collects and stores biological samples donated during routine clinical care to support research into understanding the causes and mechanisms of disease and improving diagnosis and treatment.
The Gastroenterology Collection enables donated biological samples and associated clinical information to be used for research, including studies aimed at improving understanding of human disease and developing better approaches to diagnosis and treatment.
Samples are collected with informed consent and are stored securely. Samples and associated information are assigned a unique identification number, and researchers are not provided with participants' directly identifiable personal information.
The RDETB operates under ethical approval 21/YH/0159, the second five-year extension following the original approval 11/SW/0018.
